Skye McCrindle is a white, fat, non-binary, bisexual settler on unceded Indigenous territory who absolutely adores their 3 cats (and would love to hear about your pets!). Skye began as a fat activist who supported folks to unlearn diet culture and anti-fat bias through workshops and social media. After getting their MSW and starting working individually with people they found a passion for working with a variety of mental health experiences, including anxiety, depression, self-worth, disordered eating, and more. Skye believes that everybody and every body is inherently worthy, that everything people do is trying to meet a need, and that a supportive community is a powerful way to heal.

With a background in community social work since 2013, and a psychotherapist since 2020, Skye has a wealth of experience in supporting folks from a variety of backgrounds and identities. Social work training provided Skye with a foundation focused on anti-oppressive practice which includes examining how systems like patriarchy, capitalism, and white supremacy impact our daily lives and how we feel about ourselves. Often in session, Skye will ask about how oppressions such as anti-fat bias, racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and more are showing up in your life and impacting your feelings about yourself and how these systems impact your access to care and resources. Skye provides a safer space (recognizing that no space can truly be 100% safe in an oppressive world, particularly to those with multiple intersecting identities) to support you in healing with curiosity, consent, and autonomy at the forefront.  As a trauma-informed practitioner, Skye takes a client-centered approach in their work and uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including (but not limited to) self-compassion, somatic (or embodied) approaches, CBT, DBT, and parts work (primarily Internal Family Systems). They are also constantly learning new strategies and approaches through various training and consultations.

WSkye particularly enjoys supporting fat folks in unlearning anti-fat bias, later-in-life discovered neurodivergent folks, and queer and/or trans folks exploring their identity (or all three!). However, if Skye’s approach resonates with you and you find yourself outside of these experiences, they are happy to have a free 20 minute Discovery Call to chat more and see if it feels like a fit to work together.

When Skye isn’t working they are trying not to get cat fur into their knitting, dancing in their living room, and spending time amongst trees.
